Bachelor Thesis Groups

Bachelor thesis groups are an organized and structured form of thesis preparation supervised by RSGB Institute members. These groups are centered around a broad topic, and students can choose a specific area within this field in accordance with their interest and pursue their thesis.

New groups are announced irregularly during the semester. The group meets in person on a regular basis over the semester, where students get input from our team and from each other, while also receiving feedback on their progress. The groups concludes with the submission of final thesis.

On this page you will find the announcements of upcoming bachelor thesis groups.

Capacity Building in African Business Schools: Actors, Forms, and Perspectives

Start of this group: November 4, 2026

Lead: Christof Miska

The thesis group examines capacity building in African business schools from three complementary perspectives. It explores how foreign business schools contribute to capacity building through partnerships, faculty development, research collaboration, curriculum development, and other forms of institutional support; what capacity building means in the context of African business schools and which forms of capacity, such as research, teaching, organizational, network, and knowledge-production capacity, are particularly relevant; and how African business schools themselves understand their capacity-building needs, priorities, and challenges.

  1. External actors and mechanisms
How do foreign business schools contribute to capacity building in African business schools?

  2. Forms and dimensions of capacity building
What forms of capacity building are relevant for African business schools?

  3. African business-school perspectives
How do African business schools understand their capacity-building needs and priorities?

  4.

As a whole, the group aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of who contributes to capacity building, what kinds of capacity are developed, and how these efforts are perceived and evaluated by African business schools. The group will provide an important foundation for efforts at the Competence Center for Emerging Markets & CEE to prepare capacity-building initiatives in Africa. Those interested may get involved with the preparation of these activities as well (e.g., extracurricular activities).
