Dr. Daniel Semper, MA

Daniel joined WU Vienna as a postdoc in 2017, and from 2020 to 2022 he worked as a research associate at the Institute for Nonprofit Management. Since 2018 he is affiliated with the Center for Civil Society Studies at Stockholm School of Economics, where he is engaged in a research project on the transnational governance of university fields together with Michael Meyer, Renate Meyer and Achim Oberg. He obtained his PhD from JKU Linz, his MA in management and organizational analysis from Warwick Business School, UK, hie BA and MA in Sociology with a focus on economic and organizational sociology from the University of Graz. He held positions as visiting scholar at University of Alberta, Canada, and UTS Sydney, Australia and as visiting lecturer at University of Bergamo, Italy, and at the Higher School of Economics Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. His research concerns topics of institutional processes within and across organizational fields, including topics of field status, field identity processes and the role of emotions therein, change dynamics in university fields, early phase innovation processes around the blockchain technology and questions of normativity concerning people with ascribed (dis-)abilities.
