The 12th CEE Forum Conference took place as an online event at WU from 9 – 10 September 2020. The annual conference of the Central and Eastern European Forum of Young Legal, Political and Social Theorists was held as a digital conference for the first time.

The conference on “Populism, popular sovereignty and public reason” was co-organized by Stefan Mayr (Institute for Law and Governance) and Andreas Orator (Institute for European and International Law, WU) and attracted participants a wide range of countries in the CEE region and beyond. Professor Verena Madner welcomed the participants to the conference. In her keynote “Confronting Constitutionalism’s New Normal”, Professor Renáta Uitz of the Central European University (Budapest/Vienna) addressed the vast and widespread challenges of constitutions without constitutionalism and emphasized the responsibility of scholars in meeting these challenges. The two-day conference offered insightful and thought-provoking presentations as well as intensive and fruitful academic discussions. The conference proceedings will be published with Peter Lang International Academic Publishers.
