AI Chatbot as a Learning Buddy for Festo LX

19/08/2024

Summer Semester 2024 / Festo

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Festo Didactic is a global leader in technical education and training, specializing in the development of innovative learning solutions for industrial automation and technical fields. Their comprehensive range of products and services includes e-learning platforms, training equipment, and educational software, all designed to enhance technical skills and support workforce development.

Goal

The goal of the project for Festo LX was to determine the feasibility of integrating an AI chatbot as a Learning Buddy on their platform. This chatbot was intended to simplify the learning process for users engaging with Festo's educational materials. Upon confirming the viability of such an implementation, essential features required for the AI chatbot to provide significant market advantages over competitors were identified.

Methodology

Expert interviews, B2C interviews with students and B2B surveys with professionals were conducted to create a Value Proposition Canvas, identifying the pains, gains, and jobs-to-be-done for users. Use cases from leading competitors were analyzed, and a value curve analysis was performed based on these findings. Finally, a conjoint analysis was conducted to prioritize features and explore the monetization potential for the AI chatbot.

Results

Implementing a chatbot is advisable as users desire this functionality. For it to be effective, certain features must be included. The chatbot should be able to redirect users when it encounters an unknown query, ideally guiding them to a helpful resource. Additionally, interaction should be diverse, incorporating video, voice, and text-based communication. Monitoring user progress is crucial as well as the interaction with users based on their progress. The pricing is recommended to be set between €40 and €55 per year. Furthermore, users should receive certificates upon completion, enhancing their competitiveness. Market analysis indicates that KhanAcademy’s chatbot, Khanmigo, is the benchmark. Drawing inspiration from its implementation would be highly beneficial.
