Sebastian Priestersberger, PhD

Sebastian Priestersberger’s research in the field of Strategic Management builds on perspectives such as Dynamic Capabilities, Real Options reasoning, and Coopetition.

He studies how organizations and inter-organizational collectives navigate times of change. More specifically, his research focuses on Business Model Portfolios and Meta-Organizations for sustainability-oriented innovation, with a particular interest in the health and energy sectors. Further topics he is researching include Ownership Competence and Organization Design.

Sebastian Priestersberger completed his PhD in Strategic Management at WU Vienna. He graduated from the master program Strategy, Innovation, and Management Control (SIMC) and obtained his bachelor’s degree in International Business from WU Vienna. Furthermore, Sebastian is alumnus of the Global Advancement Programme, which is organized by the United Nations Youth and Students Association of Austria. He spent an exchange semester at Schulich School of Business, York University in Toronto (Canada) and at the Graduate School of Management (GSOM) in St. Petersburg (Russia) respectively.

Furthermore, he has gained practical experience in a variety of industries in Austria and abroad by working in the online and offline retail sector, tax consulting, oil & gas, M&A, culture management, and in the construction industry. Sebastian actively engages as an entrepreneur.

As a lecturer he is teaching the undergraduate course Advanced Strategic Management.
