Department of Marketing

IMSM is part of the De­part­ment of Mar­ket­ing, which is made up of six in­sti­tutes in closely re­lated dis­cip­lines. Build­ing on mul­ti­fa­ceted co­oper­a­tion with the busi­ness and mar­ket­ing com­munit­ies, the de­part­ment’s vi­sion is to be­come one of the lead­ing in­sti­tu­tions in mar­ket­ing re­search and edu­ca­tion.

The De­part­ment of Mar­ket­ing with its six in­sti­tutes acts as a com­pet­ence center for re­search and teach­ing in core mar­ket­ing dis­cip­lines such as mar­ket­ing man­age­ment, in­ter­na­tional mar­ket­ing, con­sumer be­ha­vior, ser­vice mar­ket­ing & tour­ism, in­ter­act­ive mar­ket­ing & so­cial me­dia, and re­tail­ing. This con­cen­tra­tion of re­sources is a ma­jor ad­vant­age for the uni­versity and con­trib­utes sig­ni­fic­antly to WU’s in­sti­tu­tional and in­ter­na­tional pro­file. Close co­oper­a­tion with the busi­ness and mar­ket­ing com­munit­ies adds to the de­part­ment’s out­stand­ing repu­ta­tion.

The de­part­ment’s re­search pro­grams com­bine cut­ting-edge the­ory and prac­tical ap­plic­a­tions to provide gradu­ates with state-of-the-art know­ledge and skills for cre­at­ing, com­mu­nic­at­ing, and de­liv­er­ing value to cus­tomers with cus­tom­ized products and ser­vices in a prof­it­able and sus­tain­able man­ner.

Our in­ten­tion is to be­come one of the lead­ing in­sti­tu­tions in mar­ket­ing re­search and edu­ca­tion in the Ger­man speak­ing re­gion, Europe, and bey­ond. We at the De­part­ment of Mar­ket­ing at WU Vi­enna aim to make sig­ni­fic­ant con­tri­bu­tions to the mar­ket­ing dis­cip­line.
