The University of the South Pacific (USP) bestowed an honorary professorial appointment on Professor Schlegelmilch, who commented: "I am very grateful to receive this recognition and look forward to supporting the University of the South Pacific in its ambitious future development plans."

On its 50th anniversary, the University of the South Pacific invited Professor Schlegelmilch to deliver a keynote address on the Future of Management Education. A number of dignitaries, including the Head of the Fiji Stock Exchange, enjoyed his talk at the Laucala Campus on Fiji Island. Students and faculty joined the occasion to celebrate the completion of another successful academic year.
