Reda Hassan

Reda Hassan is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Applied AI at WU Vienna.

His research examines how humans and AI systems collaborate and complement each other in innovation, judgment formation, and organizational contexts. He also studies responsible and explainable AI, with a particular interest in how organizations can adopt AI responsibly while supporting innovation and expert decision-making. In addition, his work engages with questions of AI governance and regulation, as well as the broader organizational and societal implications of AI.

He contributes to international research projects, including the EU-funded SMART project and the previously Norway-funded ENACT project. The SMART project supports the integration of AI into European SMEs and strengthens their AI and digital transformation capabilities to enhance efficiency, productivity, and customer experience. The ENACT project developed ethical frameworks and methodologies for the responsible adoption of AI-based systems across Norway’s public and private sectors.

Prior to joining WU Vienna, Reda worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Computer Science. He remains affiliated with NTNU as a researcher. He holds a PhD in Business from Nord University Business School, specializing in Technology and Innovation Management.

Reda has held visiting research positions at Stanford University (SCANCOR) and BI Norwegian Business School. Alongside his research, he has teaching experience at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, covering management information systems, innovation management, and entrepreneurship. He is AAC&U-certified through the VE/COIL Institute and has co-designed and taught international virtual courses in collaboration with Babson College, USA.
