Improve your rhetorical skills with VR and AI

Course: Effective presentation and convincingly argumentation

Course instructor: Michael Posch | Institute for Business Education

Technologies used: Virtual reality, AI

Presenting to an unfamiliar audience or responding confidently to critical questions—just the thought of such situations causes many people to feel insecure and nervous. In traditional courses, it is often difficult to simulate realistic presentation scenarios and provide individual feedback. The course “Effective Presenting and Convincing Argumentation,” led by Michael Posch, therefore integrates the simulation of presentation situations in virtual reality, which are evaluated using AI. The rhetoric training in VR is part of a multi-level feedback concept that is embedded in face-to-face teaching.

Students decide for themselves in which training environment (lecture hall, office, conference hall), in which training setting (own presentation, randomly assigned topic, etc.) and at what level of difficulty they would like to practice in the VR environment. After the practice phase, students receive an evaluation directly in VR, but can also view it later via a web platform. They can independently compare the results of several training sequences with each other.
