Transferring credits from courses taken abroad

Students can transfer credits for courses taken abroad if these are compatible with courses taught at WU in terms of content, scope, and the quality of work and workload required.

Which E&I courses can be recognized

Courses in entrepreneurship and innovation with a focus on areas such as innovation management, organization and innovation, new product development, entrepreneurial marketing, financing innovation, venture capital, technology, and patent searches are generally suitable for meeting the requirements of Course 3 (E&I Zone), provided the examination taken abroad is compatible in content and scope. The course description must clearly show a focus on entrepreneurship and/or innovation as well as a close link to relevant theories and methods.

All other course formats ( Course 1, Course 2, Course 4, and Course 5) cannot be recognized and must be taken at the E&I Institute. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Please also note that your degree program includes modules specifically designed for an exchange semester. These take priority and should be used before you request the recognition of a specialization course. Which modules apply depends on your curriculum; you can find them on the Exchange semester (bachelor) page.

How to apply

Recognition is handled by Study Regulations & Credit Transfer, not by the E&I Institute. Please note that credits are not transferred automatically! You have to apply for recognition yourself, both before and after your stay abroad:

• Before going abroad: submit the online application for the legally binding pre-recognition notice (Feststellungsbescheid). See Credit Transfer and Learning Agreement for instructions.

• After your return: apply for recognition once you have received the transcript of records from your host university.
