Biography

Tosca Wendt was born in Tripoli, Tunisia, in 1966. She studied psychology from 1990 to 1997. In 2004, she earned her doctorate with a dissertation on “Body, Power, Gender: On the Role of Body Language Habitus in the (Re)Production of Social Inequality, Using the Example of Female Politicians.”

From 1998 to 1999, Tosca Wendt was a scholarship holder at the graduate college “Gender Relations and Social Change” at the University of Dortmund's Center for University Didactics. This was followed by a year as a scholar at the IHS Vienna from 2003 to 2004. She also works as a coach, supervisor, and organizational developer.

Her teaching and research focus on

  • gender,

  • social inequality, particularly with reference to Pierre Bourdieu's concept of habitus,

  • education and social background,

  • gender and technology,

  • social skills,

  • conversation skills and coaching,

  • communication and interaction.

From 1999 to 2003, Tosca Wendt worked in adult education and counseling. From 2003 to 2012, she was training manager for the coach training program at bfi Wien, and from 2003 to 2005 she was also a university assistant (maternity leave replacement) and, until 2007, a lecturer in the Education Sciences Group at WU Wien.

From 2005 to 2009, Tosca Wendt held a management position in social research. From 2008 to 2014, she was a lecturer for social skills, coach, and supervisor in the bachelor's program in High Tech Manufacturing at the FH Campus Wien.

Since 2012, Tosca Wendt has been director of modas – your college for social pedagogy for working people, chairwoman of the association die bildungsakademie, an association for permeability and social justice in education.
