Doctoral Program

The doctoral (PhD) program in Business and Social Sciences at WU offers a rigorous, research‑oriented education aimed at preparing students for independent academic research. Doctoral candidates acquire in‑depth knowledge of the theories in their field, research methods, data analysis, and academic publishing.

In general, there are two pathways to a doctorate:

• an internal doctorate as an employee at WU (e.g., as a research associate, project staff member, or third‑party funded researcher), and

• an external doctorate, which can be pursued alongside professional employment.

Supervision is tailored to the individual and arranged in close coordination between doctoral candidates and supervisors.

Our Institute contributes to doctoral education through the supervision of dissertations.
