WU researcher Jürgen Braunstein wins ERC Starting Grant

The European Research Council awards Jürgen Braunstein an ERC Starting Grant, one of the most prestigious European science awards. The award is endowed with €1.5 million. Braunstein conducts research at the WU Institute for Economic Geography and GIScience. He was granted starting capital for his research project on Energy Transitions and the Rise and Fall of Great Financial Centers (GFCs).

Schumpeter Award 2022

Award for WU researchers: The Schumpeter Award 2022 goes to Michael Peneder and Andreas Resch

On Friday, July 8, 2022, the International Schumpeter Society (ISS) announced at the 19th ISS Conference that the 2022 Schumpeter Award will be given to Michael Peneder and Andreas Resch. They will receive the award for their monograph Schumpeter's Venture Money, Oxford University Press 2021, marking the first time this prestigious award has gone to Austria.

TALENTA 2022

The master's thesis "Social Inclusion of Refugee Women in Austria: The Role of Subjective Experiences and Gender Roles” of Sophia Veronica Heyne submitted for TALENTA 2022 convinced the jury on all levels.

The TALENTA award ceremony will take place during the WU Awards & Best Paper Awards on 30 November 2022.

Sustainability Award 2022

The Institute for Managing Sustainability, headed by André Martinuzzi, has produced two impact reports (one on the impacts of research and one on the impacts of teaching) on behalf of the rectorate over the past two years.
This project has now won a Sustainability Award 2022, which is entitled "Sustainable Universities - Capturing and Shaping Impacts". It took third place in the category "Structural Responsibility".

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 13 from 11:00-13:00 in the Festsaal of the Vienna Museum of Technology in the presence of Federal Minister Köstinger and Polaschek.
