Thesis Proposal and Supervision Agreement
If your envisaged topic matches the research interests of the IGN, you may submit a proposal. Please follow the Institute’s guidelines regarding the supervision process and the thesis proposal.
Once completed, please send your proposal to one of the three potential supervisors at the IGN. In order to find out which supervisor would suit your MA thesis best, please check their research profiles: Felix Butzlaff , Ingolfur Blühdorn and Daniel Hausknost. If your proposal meets the Institute’s guidelines and the supervisor’s research profile, he will arrange a first supervision meeting, during which he will discuss your topic and its realization in more detail. Only then you will receive your supervision agreement. As a matter of principle, supervision agreements will be valid for six months (starting from the date of the acceptance)!
When planning your thesis writing, please notice:
Theses that are submitted after 30th of November are unlikely to be marked before the end of January
These that are submitted after 15th of July are unlikely to be marked before the end of September
Mode of Supervision and Language
The supervision will take place via written feedback and in-person supervision meetings.
We offer students the opportunity to write their thesis in German or in English.
