Areas of Research

WU promotes a multidisciplinary understanding of business and economics. This approach is particularly endorsed by the Department of Socioeconomics, which differs from all other departments in that it is not dominated by any discipline but is inherently. In this diverse environment, the Institute for Sociology and Social Research places special emphasis on the development and application of social theoretical perspectives and the adaptation and refinement of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Our substantive focus on the social dimensions of the economy is a valuable addition to WU’s business and economics-oriented approach. We address questions in the fields of politics and economics, work and consumption, and organizations (for profit as well as non-profit). More information on the institute’s key research areas is available in the adjacent links.
