Deckblatt

"Impact and Effect Analysis in Nonprofit Organizations, Businesses, and Organizations with Social Value."

From Impact Models to Measurement, Evaluation, Management, Presentation, and Communication

The authors, Christian Grünhaus and Olivia Rauscher, provide a comprehensive overview of the topic of impact in this working paper. It discusses various strands of discourse regarding methods and approaches to impact analysis in general, and monetary evaluation in particular. Additionally, two theory-driven models for examining impact are presented: the Impact Box and the Two-Level Model of Social Impact. The paper also explains further visualization options using the Impact Box and the Impact Map. The topic of impact communication and its approaches complements the paper.

Specifically, the following central questions are addressed:

  • What are impacts compared to services, benefits, and success? What are social impacts?

  • How can impacts be meaningfully categorized?

  • Are impacts always socially relevant?

  • How can impacts be evaluated?

  • What different approaches to impact analysis exist?

  • What are the differences among these approaches?
