Biography

Clarissa Ruth Marie Schott joined the Institute for Ethics in Management in 2023, first as a tutor, then as a PhD candidate. In her empirical and conceptual research, she explores the intersection of organization studies, ethics, and accounting, focusing on how organizations make distant climate futures actionable through calculative practices. She is responsible for Course III of the EMOS specialization on valuation in organizations, supervises bachelor’s theses, and has co-taught ethics and diversity as well as human resources, management, and organizations. Previously Clarissa worked at sustainability startups in Germany and is passionate about protecting nature and animals, leading her to spend several months at a wildlife sanctuary in Namibia and volunteer in shelters. She received her master's degree in management at Vienna University of Economics and Business, specializing in finance and sustainability, and studied philosophy, politics, and economics with a minor in entrepreneurship at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
