EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Planning group trips can often be a time-consuming and complex endeavour, involving coordination and communication among several individuals. At TravelSync, our primary objective is to revolutionize the way group trips are organized, making them easier and less complicated for everyone involved. With intuitive features like availability tracking, budget consensus, and personalized recommendations, it simplifies planning and decision-making. We developed our business idea using different methods learned in the course.

Goal

Our goal is to facilitate the organization of group trips in order to make group trips easier and less complicated. The coordination and communication of planning a vacation with several people should no longer be a time-consuming and annoying issue one has to deal with, but rather be a thing of the past. With the help of TravelSync, group travelling no longer has to be annoying and the process of planning a trip with several people can be made a lot easier. Coordinating and planning should no longer be one person´s responsibility, but everyone participates to the same extent. Giving individual preferences allows every opinion to be heard equally and to find a solution that suits everyone so that the perfect vacation can take place.

Methodology

We did many rounds of hypotheses testing via online, qualitative and quantitative research and also held a few expert interviews. We did a total of 3 iterations during the project based on the results from the research. We generally followed the Lean Start-up methodology and put solving our target customers’ needs as the focus of our project.

Results

The developed app simplifies the travel planning process and facilitates efficient decision-making within a group. It allows users to indicate their availability on a calendar and set their travel budget. The app also calculates the average budget of the group members, as this is one of the main identified problems with group travelling. Further, users can specify their desired travel destination or mark regions on a world map and their available dates. Then, an advanced algorithm analyzes everyone's preferences to generate a list of suitable hotels, considering all their input. The app presents the top 10 results ranked by percentage match. A chat area is provided for focused communication within the group. During the trip, expenses incurred by each individual are recorded, and the app instantly splits the costs. Overall, the app aims to support users throughout the entire travel planning process using advanced algorithms.
