Summer Semester 2024 / Ampliformer
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Ampliformer is an innovative and exciting product that aims to change the smartphone accessory and speaker industry by creating a multipurpose, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing smartphone case. Considering the limitations and environmental impact of traditional Bluetooth speakers and the insufficient speakers of smartphones, our product addresses the need for improved and enhanced smartphone audio without the drawbacks of external devices, while also maintaining a high-quality audio. By utilizing physics and superior design, Ampliformer proposes an environment friendly solution made from natural and recycled materials, providing high-quality sound amplification without any carbon footprint.
Goal
Our mission at Ampliformer is to revolutionize the speaker, phone case, and smartphone industry by offering an innovative, sustainable, multipurpose smartphone case that enhances audio quality. We prioritize eco-friendly materials, affordability, and exceptional functionality, providing users with a natural sound amplifier. This product aims to enhance the audio experience for users while promoting environmental sustainability through the use of eco-friendly materials. By combining functionality, affordability, and quality, Ampliformer seeks to meet the needs of environmentally conscious consumers and establish a strong presence in the market.
Methodology
Our methodology is a systematic and iterative process. We start by defining the problem followed by analyzing our target audience to understand their needs and how to reach them. This is followed by defining our vision and mission to guide us through all the processes. We later assess our team’s strengths and weaknesses in order to make a division of labor that would accommodate individual skills and optimize productivity. Through surveys and interviews, we gather information and feedback from the customer and market, which refines our approach and evolves our business model. Later, we define our target market by stating the Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Available Market (SAM), and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) to make realistic assumptions and preparations. A comprehensive customer analysis helps identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the market for us which enables us to position ourselves in the market. After these steps, we then develop a lean canvas business plan, evolving it through iterations. Hypotheses are tested on target customers and markets, leading to iterative improvements. Finally, we create and evaluate our first prototype, further developing it based on feedback, resulting in improved prototypes based on new insights.
Results
Our surveys and interviews pointed out an apparent dissatisfaction with the sound quality and sound levels of smartphones while also stating problems regarding the use of Bluetooth speakers. Therefore, a product that should solve these customer pains was deemed necessary. Through our R&D and continuous testing, we concluded that the minimum viable product we created was able to provide a 20% increase in sound levels without any sound deterioration. Our product is also not bulky, aesthetically pleasing and consists of only natural eco-friendly materials and materials that can be recycled. Therefore, our results indicate our success in fulfilling our vision and mission by bringing out a product that checks all the boxes.
