Short text: In the age of globalization and internationalization, migration and integration, the ability to form pluralistic judgments is an essential part of a sustainable educational process. It could even be considered one of the most important ethical tasks of any educational institution. The path to this seems to have been paved in schools, universities, and adult education institutions: independent thinking, in the sense of maturity and forming one's own opinions, is a central component of every subject and is reflected in much of the teaching content.

However, little attention has been paid to the further development of this way of thinking, which also takes into account the perspectives and interests of others and enables a pluralistic exchange of opinions: expanded thinking. In times when there is repeated talk of "values education", tolerance for those who think differently, and "diversity management", this can be considered negligent.

This anthology places Kant's maxim of public spirit, "to think in the place of every other" (§40, Critique of Judgment, 1790), in the context of educational philosophy and aesthetics, politics, rhetoric and (world) literature, school pedagogy, and intercultural education.
