Research Institute for Economics of Inequality
The Research Institute for Economics of Inequality is a multidisciplinary research institute at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, where professors of the Department of Economics and the Department of Socio-economics research and analyze a wide variety of questions concerning economic, ecological and social inequality with a small team of young but highly qualified researchers.
Research Institute for European Affairs
The main objective of WU's Europainstitut is to actively support European integration as a way to promote prosperity for all Europeans based on the principles of freedom, democracy, equality, and the rule of law. Top quality research and teaching in the field of European integration are needed to reach this goal.
Research Institute for Regulatory Economics
The Research Institute for Regulatory Economics focuses on the subjects of efficiency measurement in regulated industries, efficacy and effects of regulation as well as the relationship between regulation and investment/innovation. The conducted research comprises the areas of electronic communications industries and network-based energy supplying alongside climate change-related issues.”
Research Institute on International Taxation
Since its start in 2003 the interdisciplinary Research Institute for International Taxation has been aiming to provide structured answers to issues raised in the scientific and political debate on international tax coordination within an area where countries are striving for economic integration.
Research Institute for Spatial and Real Estate Economics
The Research Institute for Spatial and Real Estate Economics deals with research questions in which (socio-)economic issues are analyzed from a spatial perspective. In particular, the focus is on challenges at the regional, urban, and rural level related to accessibility, infrastructure availability, mobility, housing and real estate. Cooperations across departments at the WU as well as numerous national and international cooperations, involving researchers as well as policy-makers and industry, ensure a diverse, interdisciplinary perspective on these challenges. The Research Institute is financed by third-party funds.
Research Institute for Cryptoeconomics
The aim of the Research Institute for Crypto-Economics is to bundle the interdisciplinary competence of the Vienna University of Economics and Business and partner institutions to investigate Blockchain technologies, their crypto-economic incentive mechanisms and other relevant research questions.
