Conference Talks

12/08/2026

From June 23 to June 27, 2026, Regina Göke attended the International Conference on Conversation Analysis (ICCA) in Edmonton, Canada. The conference brought together researchers from around the world working on conversation analysis and related approaches to the study of social interaction, providing a forum for the exchange of current research on language, multimodal interaction, and communication in institutional and everyday settings.

During the conference, Regina Göke presented her paper, Coordinating Work Beyond Words: Multimodal Communication in Multilingual Construction Teams. Motivated by the increasing diversity of the construction industry in the German-speaking world, her research examines how collaboration is accomplished in everyday construction site interaction. The presentation focused on how foremen design directives by coordinating verbal, multimodal, and multilingual resources, and how workers respond to these directives during ongoing work activities.
