Excellent research with a lasting impact

Impact Grants for Research – research with a social impact

The Impact Grants for Research are a pilot funding program for supporting projects that focus on the real-world impact of academic research findings and advance the transfer of research results to non-academic contexts.

These grants are targeted at WU researchers who have done quality-assured work (e.g. peer reviewed papers, competitive conference presentations, publications) and whould like to translate their research findings into specific applications with a tangible social impact. The goal is to strengthen the impact of the research on relevant stakeholders and multipliers through creative, impact-focused science-to-practice activities.

Matching Grants – additional support for top-class international projects

Our Matching Grants are a strategic funding instrument for supporting successful third-party-funded projects. These grants are targeted at research projects that have won grants from excellence-focused, internationally recognized funding programs such as those offered by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the EU (other than ERASMUS+).

This additional funding opportunity is designed to offer improved conditions for carrying out third-party-funded research. The project heads receive funding for tackling the challenges of project administration and coordination and covering any funding gaps. The goal is to ensure the successful completion of the projects and lay the foundations for winning further grants going forward..
