About

Ulrike Schneider is Professor of Economic and Social Policy at WU Vienna. She currently heads the Institute for Social Policy and the WU Research Institute for Economics of Aging, and from 2010 to 2019 she also headed the Department of Socioeconomics. She has been a visiting researcher at US research institutions (Johns Hopkins University, Syracuse University; University of California at Berkeley, University of Maryland) and at Trinity College in Dublin. She is concerned with the economic analysis of social services (market structure, employment trends, access to and quality of services). A particular focus of her work is the socio-economic and socio-political analysis of social ageing, especially of care systems and care policy. Last but not least, Ulrike Schneider researches the potential of new technologies for the provision of social services and the significance of digitalization and climate change for the welfare state.
