Evaluating the effectiveness of climate change adaptation measures can sometimes be challenging. In many cases, the focus is limited to measuring performance data, which in itself does not provide insights into the societal impacts achieved. This is also true for the evaluation of services provided by the Climate Change Adaptation Model Regions (KLAR! regions). The KLAR!wirkt project aims to design indicators and surveys that will enable the measurement of impacts from KLAR! regions. One goal of the project is to include a section on impacts in the KLAR! survey, which is conducted every three years across all KLAR! regions. Additionally, further survey options will be conceptualized that can be integrated into the ongoing operations of KLAR!. This will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of the KLAR! funding program. Moreover, KLAR!wirkt serves as a pilot project for a general approach to measuring the societal impacts of climate change adaptation measures.

The project is funded by the Climate and Energy Fund as part of the Austrian Climate Research Programme Implementation 2024 (ACRPI). Consortium partners include KLAR! Alpbachtal, KLAR! Bad Ischl Ebensee, and the Federal Environment Agency.
