MSc Marketing students among the winners of the InnoDays 2021

17/05/2021

Students in the New Products Development class participated in the Virtual InnoDays Spring 2021 Challenge. In 48 hours 270+ participants together with company-partners from Tyrol worked on improving avalanche airbags (ABS), creating a new sustainable rental service for sports fashion products (PYUA), redesigning the famous rescue equipment Akja (Tyromont) and inventing new ways to utilize hemp within a local circular economy in the region (ALPEX Technologies and Stadortagentur Tirol). Students worked in mixed teams with participants from OST (Fachhochschulen Ostschweiz), TU Berlin, TU Wien, and University of Innsbruck.

During the event students put into practice everything they had learnt so far: from designing customer personas and value propositions, to verifying the riskiest assumptions and conducting interviews, developing prototypes and iterating business models. In the end, all teams presented their ideas to experts during the team expo and winners were selected by company partners.

It’s a special pleasure to announce that the winning teams in the airbag trigger challenge and Akja challenge include MSc Marketing students, namely Alessia Piga and Marina Viola Gallob. In addition, ideas of a few other WU teams were recognized by company-partners as high-potential. Except for winning internship opportunities and invitations to workshops, all teams can proceed with the execution of their ideas with company-partners.

Congratulations to all students on their great work and hope to see your impactful ideas being implemented soon!
