Korn Ferry’s Senior Client Partner on the Challenges in Recruitment and Selection of Salespeople


On November 10, 2022, the 1931 Personal Selling and Sales Management in the Global Context class, led by Dr. Zoran Latinovic, had the pleasure of having on-campus Mr. Andreas Perklitsch, Senior Client Partner and Sector Leader Life Sciences EMEA, Professional Search at Korn Ferry, as a Guest Speaker. Andreas shared his insights about the current challenges in recruiting and selection in the global market.

Andreas detailed the example of a search process with particular stress on final assessment and behavioral interviews. Moreover, Andreas’ guest talk emphasized the importance of Korn Ferry’s global footprint, with more than 50.000 candidates placed globally per year and assisted by more than 1.900 international professional search employees.

Andreas pointed out a perspective from the recruiter’s point of view, indicating the needed skills and abilities as key success factors for a salesperson in building a successful sales career. The challenges from the recruiter’s side will always involve distinguishing the natural sales talents and getting the right salespeople when you need them, which is, at the same time, a general challenge in recruitment.

Andreas is a member of the Korn Ferry’s EMEA Life Sciences Market with a proven track record in supporting large and mid-sized companies in Pharmaceuticals, Biotech, Diagnostics, Medtech, and Healthcare Management in Europe. Before Korn Ferry, Andreas experienced multiple consulting and HR roles. He graduated from the University of Salzburg, with a Master degree in General Management.
