17/10/2023

On October 9, 2023, the winner of this year’s Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences was announced in Stockholm.

The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was awarded to Harvard economist Claudia Goldin for her work on the role of women in the labor market, specifically on the topic of wages and the gender pay gap. She is the first female researcher to receive this award on her own.

From the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences: “Claudia Goldin provided the first comprehensive account of women’s earnings and labour market participation through the centuries. Her research reveals the causes of change, as well as the main sources of the remaining gender gap.”
