About

Barbara Thurner-Klusacek has been the program manager for the Master’s Program in Business Communication (BizComm) since September 2021. Currently, she is sharing this position with the second manager of the program, Isabelle Walters. The responsibilities of both include consulting and communicating with applicants, students, and teachers, and she is also involved with most of the relevant processes related to running the master’s program (the application process, curricular planning, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, assisting the academic directors, etc.).

Before taking on the position of program manager, Barbara Thurner-Klusacek worked in another role at WU from November 2018 until November 2020, as a coordinator for the selection procedures at the bachelor’s level. She is a graduate of WU’s Bachelor’s Program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences (International Business Administration major) and holds a master’s degree in Culture, Organization and Management from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Furthermore, Barbara has completed a doctoral degree program at the University of Vienna in the field of sociology with a special focus on the communicative construction of diversity in public-sector organizations.

Barbara Thurner-Klusacek has also been teaching at various academic institutions, which is one reason high-quality teaching and a well-balanced curriculum are particularly important to her.
