Organizational adaptation of Turkish immigrant physicians in healthcare workplaces in the European Union

This research project explores the experiences of Turkish physicians who have immigrated to European Union (EU) countries to practice medicine. Specifically, it investigates how these doctors adjust to their new workplaces, adapt to organizational cultures, and navigate intercultural interactions within healthcare environments. Using a digital ethnographic approach, the project begins with detailed online interviews to understand initial experiences and challenges. It continues with weekly WhatsApp messages, allowing doctors to reflect and share ongoing integration experiences. The project concludes with a final round of interviews to capture deeper insights and reflections. By examining these real-life integration stories, the project aims to uncover the practical methods and strategies Turkish immigrant doctors use to successfully adapt and integrate into EU healthcare systems. The findings will help healthcare organizations better support immigrant professionals, improve intercultural communication, and promote inclusive work environments across the EU.
