Illinois International Accounting Symposium in Vienna from May 30 to June 2, 2023

Review of the Symposium

Hosted by The International Journal of Accounting (TIJA) / Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and jointly hold with the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), the Illinois International Accounting Symposium took place at our WU Campus in Vienna from May 30 – June 2, 2023 at best weather.

The symposium started on Tuesday, May 30, with the PhD Consortium which provided a forum for doctoral students to receive inspiration from their peers and discuss their research objectives with senior members of the community in the context of an established international conference.

The main theme of the symposium was “Application of Big Data in International Accounting Research”. At the same time, innovative papers on other subjects in Accounting were also be discussed.

On Thursday, June 1, there was a panel discussion on "Digital Financial Reporting and Research Opportunities" with Zach Gast (IASB), Liane Hirner (CFO, Vienna Insurance Group, Austria) and Christian Sikora (Audit Partner, KPMG).  Please have a look at the short interviews conducted with the invited speakers.
