The Virtual Campus in the Signature Course "Future of Work"

02/02/2026

The follow-up report to the LEHRE Digital event describes how students from four countries learn and work together interactively in the Virtual Campus.

In the ENGAGE.EU Signature Course "Future of Work", students from the University of Mannheim, the Université Toulouse Capitole, the Norwegian School of Economics and the Vienna University of Economics and Business are working together across national borders. The Virtual Campus acts as a digital meeting point and enables interaction, collaboration and synchronous encounters in a three-dimensional space.

The first step is a technical onboarding in TriCAT Spaces, followed by a Welcome Room, a Main Activity Room, an Info Room and a "free space". At the beginning, students get to know each other through activities such as Treasure Hunt Bingo, find important course information and form groups that organize themselves into audio zones. During the course, the Virtual Campus is available as an open space for joint work and meetings.

At the closing, a mood barometer is used for students to visualize their feedback, and key findings are recorded on whiteboards and discussed in plenary.

A detailed description of the spaces used, activities and examples of student work can be found in the full article on the Portal Online Environment for members of WU. Please note: The text is only available in German.
