Virtual teaching and learning spaces
In contrast to web conferencing tools such as MS Teams or Zoom, virtual teaching and learning spaces allow people to be embodied in the form of avatars in a three-dimensional environment. All actors - learners and teachers - are in this virtual environment at the same time and together, can move around in it and interact in a variety of ways.
The strengths of virtual teaching and learning spaces are:
The shared synchronous presence in the virtual space and the sense of community
The interaction and activity, i.e. the possibility of group formation, exchange and meeting as well as active participation
The possibility of incorporating virtual objects that are hardly available in the real world
Virtual teaching and learning spaces can be accessed low-threshold via browser on computer or mobile devices. Access via VR glasses is also possible and allows a deeper immersion in the virtual environments.
