Project Assistant (prae-doc)

Fabian Ziermann joined the Institute of Business Law and the Department of Competition Law and Digitalization as a PhD student in April 2021 and as a project assistant (pre-doc) in November 2023, as part of a scholarship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His dissertation "eSports-Navigating Antitrust Intervention and Intellectual Property Application", examines the dominant position of video game publishers and the creation of copyrights for non-publisher stakeholders.
After completing his LL.B. degree at Aston University with a year abroad at Marist College, Fabian completed LL.M. degrees at the LSE in London, the LMU Munich and the BSC in Brussels.

Professionally, Fabian worked on data protection and artificial intelligence at Bragi. In addition, he dealt with digital merger control and the interpretation of Section 19a GWB at the German Federal Cartel Office and on digital rights management at ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE.

He also assessed antitrust and copyright issues in eSports at SK Gaming. Fabian advises AKELA RechtsanwältInnen GmbH as Of Counsel on antitrust law issues and gaming law issues in connection with gaming.
