Distance Learning: Financial Reporting and Analysis

*** Update 24 March ***

Dear students,

we would like to inform you that we have set up a forum where you can ask questions about the course material on Learn@WU. We will check the forum on a regular basis and answer your questions.

The course now also has a repository. Here you will find a short guide on how to get there.

In the course repository you will find all relevant materials. It contains a folder named short teaching videos where you will find all explanatory videos. Please check this folder frequently, as new explanations are added regularly.

We hope you are healthy and in good spirits.

Best regards and stay safe,

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Eva Eberhartinger

***

Dear students,

as already announced, the teaching program was changed to distance learning as a preventive measure. The remaining units of the course Financial Reporting and Analysis will therefore not take place. Instead we offer the following measures, for both classes (Eberhartinger and Petutschnig) alike:

1. Lecture casts + Forum

We ask you to prepare the material of the units concerned in self-study using the literature and lecture casts which will be uploaded on LEARN in time. In addition, we will start an online-forum on Learn@WU where you can post your questions. We will regularly answer those questions. Unfortunately, due to class size, online streaming is not an option for the time being.

2. Online homework

As already communicated in the previous email, the mid-term exam will be replaced by an online homework on LEARN, which will take place on 27th March. The homework will be open to edit from 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m (Central European Time) and after opening the homework, you will have 45 minutes to submit. If you not submit in time, you will not receive any points. This homework covers the topics of units 1-3.

There is no change regarding the original homework. The date remains 1st April from 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. and it covers the topics of unit 4.

3. Participation Points

Because of the distance learning, the performance assessment, which focused on in-class-participation, will change. Due to the absence of the presence units, you have no longer the possibility to receive participation points through your input in discussions. In return, the weighting on the online clicker questions will be higher. Instead of 0.5 points, you will receive 1 point for a correct answered clicker question. Additionally, we will reduce the number of points for which you get the full 20% in-class-participation from seven to five points.

The clicker questions (single choice) will be open to answer on Mondays from 8:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m., starting with 23rd March. After opening the question, you will have five minutes to submit your answer. If you not submit in time, you will not receive any points.

4. Final Exam

At present, in line with WU policy, we assume that the final exam will take place at WU as planned. We will keep you posted.

This table offers an overview of relevant times for homework and clicker questions.

These circumstances are not pleasant and require new ways of teaching and learning from all of us. Due to the current situation we ask for your understanding and best possible cooperation on your part.

Thank you, kind regards, stay safe and stay at home,

Univ.Prof. Dr. Eva Eberhartinger
