Young Researchers' Workshop

supported by ALA (Association for Language Awareness)

The Young Researchers' Workshop will take place on Tuesday, 19 July 2016, 1pm - 4.30pm before the Opening Ceremony.

The PhD workshop will consist of two parts.

  1. The first part is specifically geared towards early-career scientists, with a strong focus on starting out in academia. Questions to be addressed include:

    • How do you build an academic CV (for beginners)

    • Prioritising PhD thesis and other (research?) activities

    • Becoming a member of the academic community

    • How to prepare for life after the PhD

At the same time, postdocs and researchers already part of the academic community will have the opportunity to meet and network with established scholars in a special Postdoc Café.

  2. The second part, open jointly to both pre- and postdocs, is a publication workshop with the editors of the Language Awareness journal / other scholars with considerable publication experience. This part of the workshop provides a forum to address any questions related to publication strategies.
