New Professorship

We welcome Univ.Prof. Dr. Jürgen Essletzbichler, University Professor of Regional Science, who completes our team from 1 April 2016.

Person:

My research interests include the theoretical development of evolutionary approaches in economic geography, the identification of drivers of metropolitan economic growth and resilience in the U.S., the quantitative analysis of the the role of industrial diversity and industrial branching for urban economic transformation and the analysis of the causes of increasing income inequality at the metropolitan scale.

Recent research projects include an analysis of the role of technological relatedness among industrial sectors for metropolitan industrial evolution in the U.S., an evaluation of the need for a multi-scalar approach to energy transition policy and the potential of renewable energy technology for regional path creation and the exploration of the use of Generalized Darwinist principles for the conceptual development of evolutionary economic geography.
