Research Institute for Regulatory Economics
Founded in 2005, the Research Institute for Regulatory Economics is a think tank with the medium-term goal of building up knowledge on the interplay between competition and demands for regulation. From 2005 – 2008, research by the Institute’s faculty and graduate students focused mainly on network-based energy supplying industries.
Since 2009, the focus of the Institute’s research has expanded, most notably with regard to electronic communications markets. Additionally, in the future we intend to widen our focus further by including the regulation of postal services and railways.
Academic researchers with national and international backgrounds work together, taking an interdisciplinary approach to address issues in the fields of efficiency measurement in regulated industries, effectiveness of regulation, and the relationship between regulation and innovation. We strive for a productive knowledge exchange with practitioners, allowing us to profit from their knowledge while acting as consultants to the industry.
