Consequences for trade policy

This event is organized by the Department of Economics

Individual countries’ political and economic systems are as different as the countries themselves. Long after the end of the Cold War, their goals and the  instruments used to achieve them still vary widely. In addition, zero-sum logic makes it difficult to find solutions to global challenges such as climate change. We will be exploring what these geostrategic rivalries mean for international trade policy. What are the consequences for the WTO and the EU? And what strategies are in place to protect our prosperity?

Lecture:

Gabriel Felbermayr, Professor of Economic Policy, WU; Director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO)

Panel and Moderation:

Ingrid Kubin, Professor of International Economics, WU; Vice President of the Executive Board, Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO)

Harald Oberhofer, Professor of Empirical Economic Research, WU; Senior Economist, Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO)
