18/05/2021

As the final step in her doctoral studies, Katharina Parapatics successfully defended her dissertation on legal issues of ‘integrated energy and spatial planning’.

In her doctoral thesisKatharina deals with a variety of legal issues of ‘integrated energy and spatial planning’, i.e. the aligning of spatial planning law with climate and energy objectives and the interlocking of energy planning and spatial planning. Katharina focuses on the area of heat supply, discussing inter alia the application of energy concepts, climate and energy related regulations as well as the negotiations of contractual agreements with climate and energy related contracts. In her dissertation, Katharina offers a detailed legal dogmatic analysis of the relevant instruments for ‘integrated energy and spatial planning’. Moreover, she proposes legal policy proposals on how these instruments could be further developed for the purposes of ‘integrated energy and spatial planning’.

Katharina successfully defended her thesis on 12 May 2021 before the doctoral committee, comprised of Professors Verena Madner, Michael Holoubek, Harald Eberhard and Gunther Maier (all WU).
