According to the Austrian Armed Forces' new risk assessment, Austria is under considerable pressure from geopolitical conflicts, unstable neighbourhoods and instrumentalised migration, which directly affects security and social cohesion. 

Judith Kohlenberger's contribution to the 2026 risk assessment therefore calls for asylum responsibility to be transferred entirely to the EU level in order to end unilateral national action and political exploitation, while accommodation and integration should be organised more locally.
