Representatives from the film festival industry discussed the social impact of film festivals in a workshop held on March 18, 2025.

The workshop was moderated and organized by Christian Grünhaus and Stefan Schöggl from the Center for Nonprofit Organizations and Social Impact, along with Verena Teissl from FH Kufstein Tirol and Tanja Krainhöfer from Film Festival Studies Munich.

Initial stakeholders and impacts were identified, ranging from self-reflection among the audience, networking within the film industry, the engagement of new visitor groups for cinemas, to enhancing the attractiveness of locations at the regional level. Furthermore, initial considerations were made regarding the measurement of these impacts and the development of an impact-oriented strategic approach.
