Emphasis in Research

The Department’s research is grounded in a multi‑method and multi‑paradigm approach that draws on interdisciplinary perspectives within the social sciences. We place strong emphasis on advancing fundamental theory and conducting rigorous empirical analyses, while also generating practical insights that help managers and decision‑makers address challenges in organizations and in society.

Across our institutes, we diversify our research in two ways. First, we cover key functional areas within the management and governance knowledge spectrum, including organization and governance, management education and learning, organizational behavior, ethics in management, diversity, leadership, strategic change, and human resource management. Second, we address a wide range of application areas and organizational types such as nonprofits and civil society organizations, family businesses, public sector institutions, educational organizations, social enterprises, cooperatives, and healthcare institutions. Through this dual focus, we aim to develop management and governance knowledge that is relevant and adaptable across diverse contexts.

Our research outreach is both local and international. We contribute through publications and active participation in scientific events, and we regularly organize and host conferences, workshops, and scholarly gatherings. We place high value on international collaboration and foster it by welcoming visiting scholars and cultivating global academic partnerships.
