Biography
Jana has been with the team at the Institute for Information Systems and Society since 2011, first as a research assistant and later as a research and teaching associate.
She studied psychology at the Faculty for Psychology at the University of Vienna and is a master in work, organizational and economic psychology as well as research methods and evaluation.
Prior to working at the Institute for Information Systems and Society she headed the research department at a policy oriented research think tank in her home country of Macedonia where she gained invaluable experience in research and advocacy for social issues such as civic engagement, gender equality, human rights, youth issues and urban development.
Her research interest are very diverse and range from the above mentioned social issues, through psychological and labor market predictors of worker’s well-being to the ethical issues arising from the digitalization of everyday life and the prominence of new media.
At the Institute or Management Information Systems she has mainly worked on privacy and ownership issues of personal data on the internet; especially in the social networks context. For this work, together with Prof. Dr. Sarah Spiekermann and Dr. Christine Bauer she won the CPDP 2013 Multidisciplinary Privacy Research Award (Computers, Privacy & Data Protection CPDP 2013).
At the moment she continues her work on privacy and ownership issues of personal data as well as the impact of new media and technology on the affective, cognitive, and conative aspects of the users as well as the well-being of society (as end-user of new media and technology) in general.
