On April 1, 2025, Ambassador Mag. Martin Meisel spoke at WU on the topic "Challenges in the EU's External Relations". As Head of the Department for European Law at the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (International Law Office), Mr. Meisel is involved in, among other things, international law issues within the framework of the EU as well as in providing legal advice for defining Austria's positions in foreign and European policy – central topics that were also at the center of his lecture. Mr. Meisel provided the audience with informed insights into the practical challenges of his work and vividly and entertainingly described the European legal issues. Following his lecture, he generously took the time for questions from the audience and enriched the discussion with vivid accounts of his diverse professional stations, including those in New York, Damascus, and Addis Ababa.
