The Gaul Lecture Award, conferred annually, honors a preeminent international scholar whose exceptional contributions have profoundly shaped an area of research in the fields of mathematics, economics, or computer science. During a research stay at KIT, the recipient delivers the Gaul Lecture, presenting his/her research domain to a broader audience. Additionally, the recipient presents a research seminar tailored to an expert audience. The research stay at KIT is designed to inspire in particular burgeoning scientists and to initiate exploration into new areas of inquiry at KIT.

The Gaul Lecture is financially supported by the Helga- and Wolfgang Gaul Foundation.
