Cartoons that Mean Business

About Michael Pammesberger

Michael Pammesberger (born September 2, 1965, in Bad Ischl) is one of Austria’s most renowned political cartoonists. After studying law in Salzburg and Vienna, he initially worked as a legal professional before increasingly devoting himself to his passion for drawing. He achieved his breakthrough in the early 1990s with political cartoons for Oberösterreichische Nachrichten. Since 1997, he has been drawing for the daily newspaper Kurier, where his distinctive blend of humor and sharp observation has made him one of Austria’s most recognizable commentators on politics and society. His cartoons are also published regularly in book form and have earned him a wide readership. To mark his 60th birthday, the Karikaturmuseum Krems recently hosted the exhibition “Planet Pammesberger” in his honor.
