Sabine Weiß took part in the final conference of the research project "Non-traditional students – between risk group and academic normality" organized by the German Center for Higher Education Research and Science Studies from September 16 to 17, 2019, at Humboldt University in Berlin.

The conference addressed topics such as permeability in the German education system and research into a very specific group of non-traditional students who begin university studies without an Abitur (approx. high school leaving certificate). It was noted that the "royal road" to studying in Germany still runs through the Abitur and that new areas of permeability need to be created.

The conference was very exciting because, in addition to the proximity to the research topics at the Department of Education, representatives from politics, trade unions, employers' associations, and university administration were also present, promoting exchange.
