About

Susanne Kopf holds a PhD (Lancaster University, UK) and a venia docendi (WU Wien, AT) in applied linguistics. In her doctoral thesis, she focused on digital discourse on the European Union. Her habilitation project dealt with the social media communicative paradigm and the digital platform economy. Generally, Kopf’s research interests are located in the field of Critical Discourse Studies at the intersection of purely qualitative linguistic analysis and qualitative and quantitative corpus linguistic methods. She has (co-)authored books, such as A Discursive Perspective on Wikipedia (Palgrave) and has published in renowned journals, e.g. New Media & Society, Critical Discourse Studies and Review of Managerial Science. Moreover, she has contributed to a number of edited volumes and co-edited, for instance, Discourses of Brexit (with V. Koller and M. Miglbauer, Routledge 2019). Kopf‘s contribution to her field has been recognised with various prizes and awards, for example, the Oberösterreichische Talentförderungsprämie and the Alois Mock science prize.

Research Interests

Susanne Kopf’s research interests are located in the field of Critical Discourse Studies at the intersection of purely qualitative linguistic analysis and qualitative and quantitative corpus linguistic methods. Her current research focuses on the representation and construction of the European Union on Wikipedia.
