Aktuelle Forschungsprojekte

Language and communication in the context of migrant care work: The case of Ukrainian care workers in the EU

This research project seeks to explore the interrelationship between transnational migration, care labour and language. More specifically, drawing on in-depth interviews with Ukrainian care workers, the study aims to provide some new insights into the cultural and communicative challenges migrant caregivers encounter in home-based and institutional care settings and how they cope with these challenges. Additionally, the study attempts to take a closer look at the influence of labour migration on the linguistic resources and everyday language practices of the interviewed care workers.
